Orlando Pirates to snatch Nwabali from Chippa Utd
Super Eagles shot stopper, Stanley Nwabali could be in-between the sticks for Premier Soccer League (PSL) and Soweto football giant, Orlando Pirates come next season.
According to top South African football source, SoccerLaduma, the Sea Robbers are prioritising a move for the Chippa United goalkeeper.
Failing this, The Buccaneers will fall back on a potential move for AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana star, Veli Mothwa. 2017 AFCON winner with Cameroon, Fabrice Ondoa, is also a target.
Nwabali’s reported R30 million valuation by Chippa scared Kaizer Chiefs off, but Pirates are still keen at that price point. The 28-year-old goalkeeper starred for Nigeria at AFCON 2023, helping them to the final where it lost to hosts Ivory Coast.
At the other end of the pitch, Orlando Pirates have released striker Kermit Erasmus. The 33-year-old is being heavily linked with a return to his former club Cape Town City.
The club has released Siyabonga Mpontshane and Richard Ofori. Sipho Chaine is the number 1, while Melusi Buthelezi understudied him throughout the campaign.
