The Director-General National Institute for Sports, His Exelency Rt Honourable Comrade Philip Shuaibu had tasked the newly elected Students Union ledership of the Institute to support the reforms and innovations being carried out at the institute.

Speaking during the Inauguration of the new executive led by Alhaja Adejoke Baruwa, the DG said " We are excited that the election of the new executive was rancour free and a lady emerged as the new President.

"You have a huge responsibility to key into our reforms to take the Institute to another level. We shall support you by providing an enabling, conducive environment for you to achieve  academic goals and carry our your programs.

"We are rebranding the Institute and we need the support of everyone to make this a reality," the DG said.

In her remarks, the newly elected President Alhaja Baruwa said, "History is not just a colection of dates in a textbook, history is what we do when we decide that the status quo is no longer enough. I am deeply humbled and honoured to be inaugurated as the first-ever female President of the Student Union Government in the history of the National Institute for Sports. This victory does not belong to me alone. It belongs to every student who believe that leadership is defined by vision, not by gender.

"Today, we prove that the Elite Standard has no gender, it only has results."

On her mission, she affirmed "We must recognize the weight of this moment. We are not just a new set of students, we are the Pioneer Set of the Renewed Hope for the NIS and the Nigerian sports industry. We represent a fresh start and a commitment to professionalizing our sector.

"Our administration is built on three unbreakable pilars of the Elite Standard:• A Conducive Learning Environment: Excelence cannot grow in discomfort. We are already working with Management to ensure our classrooms from the seating to the lighting, reflect the prestige of a National Institute. We wil bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry reality by bringing legends of Nigerian sports to this campus to mentor the next generation.

"We wil raise the bar of our engagements, our discipline, and our output so that when an NIS student speaks, the world of sports listens," she assured.
