NFF logjam: NSC, NFF Congress reach common ground but...There appears to be an agreement between the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the state Football Associations (FAs) in the process towards reforms for the tottering Nigerian football.http://www.sportsunlimited.ng can report authoritatively that the FAs have soft pedal in their hardline posture on certain aspects but remain adamant on the relevant of the Congress' role in the reformation process."We've never kicked against reform in whatever guise, it's our wish as well. The fact that it was a directive from the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu makes it imperative that we key into it," a member of the Congress told this portal.A major issue raised by the Congress members was the decision attributed to the NFF Acting General Secretary, Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, to dissolve or disband the Congress as part of the interim measures following the resignation of the former NFF leadership.

The Congress members reportedly demanded an apology from Ikpeme before substantive discussions could proceed, arguing that the Acting General Secretary lacked the authority to unilaterally dissolve the federation’s highest decision-making body.

The controversy has become particularly significant because the State Football Associations constitute a substantial part of the wider NFF Congress and had previously expressed opposition to the purported dissolution, while stressing that their objection was not necessarily to the proposed reforms or normalisation process.

After the meeting with Mallam Shehu Dikko the his Director General, Chief Bukola Olopade,  Congress men will have to study the reform roadmap and then get back to the NSC next week for their observation and way forward.

But the Congress biggest issue is that they didn't recognize Ikpeme, saying he can't stand as Acting General Secretary.
