NSC charges D'Tigress to start World Cup campaign on winning note against South Korea

The National Sports Commission, NSC, has expressed confidence in the ability of the Nigeria D'Tigress as they open up their campaign at the FIBA Women's World Cup up against South Korea in Berlin later today.

The African Champions will be hoping to start their journey on a winning note when they take on their Asian opponents, with a revenge in mind having lost to the same team at the World cup Qualification Tournament in France earlier this year.

But the Nigerian team are in a very high spirit in Berlin under coach Rena Wakama having had a very solid training camps and preparations ahead of the World cup.

According to the Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, the Nigeria senior Women side are a proper tournament team who knows how to raise their game when it matters.

The DG said he is not only optimistic about far the girls will go at the World cup but he is also very proud of how the girls have continually showcase the Country in a positive light on the global stage with their conduct, discipline and patriotism, showcasing themselves as true ambassadors of the country.

" I have no doubt that our girls will leave everything on the court in every game, starting with today's match against the Koreans. That is one thing you cannot take away from the D'Tigress and their coaching staff".

" I want every Nigerian to rally round the team and put them in their prayers because they definitely need all our support to have a good campaign at the World Cup".

Today''s Game will mark the 4th time the D'Tigress will be taking on South Korea with Nigeria leading on the head to head with two wins and one defeat.

D’Tigress are in Group B at the tournament with South Korea, Hungary and European giants France.

The top team in each group advances directly to the quarterfinals, while the second- and third-place teams must win a qualification game to reach the last eight.
