GRASOF appoints Vanguard Dep. Sports Editor, Jemegah, media coordinator for Sen Akpabio Unity Cup 

As part of efforts to get wide mileage and position the annual Senate President U-18 National Unity Cup, organisers of the tournament has appointed Vanguard Newspapers Deputy Sports Editor, Emma Jemegah as Electronic and Media Coordinator

GRASOF appoints Vanguard Dep. Sports Editor, Jemegah, media coordinator for Sen Akpabio Unity Cup 

As part of efforts to get wide mileage and position the annual Senate President U-18 National Unity Cup, organisers of the tournament has appointed Vanguard Newspapers Deputy Sports Editor, Emma Jemegah as Electronic and Media Coordinator.

The appointment is part of wide ranging appointments to ensure the success of the 3rd edition of the tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Akwa Ibom State between October and November 2026, bringing together young football talents from different parts of Nigeria in a celebration of grassroots football development, youth empowerment and national unity.

In his letter of appointment, President of the Grassroots Sports Federation (GRASOF), Hon John Bassey Ekpenyong, said Jemegah's appointment was in recognition of his previous contributions not only to tournaments under GRASOF but other areas in sports development.

"We're pleased to appoint you the Electronic and Media Coordinator of the 3rd Senate President Under 18 Annual Unity Cup for your outstanding contributions to the development of sports and GRASOF activities in particular," the statement reads.

Others appointed into various committees are chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Adede Kufre Inima, his Secretary, Winner Akan.

Others are Technical Committee chairman, Ahmed Tanko — Technical, Organising Secretary, Ada Gwegwe — Organising Secretary, chairman Logistics, Alhaji Haruna Ningi and Patrick Ndubuisi, who will serve as the PRO.

The rest are Agbana Ademola, chairman Screening Committee, Comrade Clifford Simon, Chairman Protocol, Hajiya Hauwa Lawan, Women Affairs, Harrison Iyoanama, who heads the Awards Committee.

Others who have been appointed to critical committees are Kingsley Morrison, member, Morris Silas, Accommodation, Engr. Joshua Chidozie Echefu,  Clubs Representative, Esin Esin, Secretariat head, Nurse Ifiok Ekong, Medical, Gbenga Okenla —Contact and Sponsorship, Etido Inyang, Security, Abubakar Abdullahi, New Media, Comrade Ita Peters, Mobilisation and Hon. Micheal Ukpong, Venue. 

The LOC  is charged with the responsibility of coordinating the local arrangements and supporting the successful delivery of the tournament, including logistics, venue preparations, protocol, administration, publicity, technical coordination and other essential aspects of the competition.

The constitution of the LOC represents a significant step in GRASOF’s preparations for the third edition of the prestigious youth football tournament, which seeks to use grassroots sports as a platform for talent discovery, youth development, peace, unity and national integration.

According to the President, Hon Ekpenyong, GRASOF is confident that the committee, under the leadership of Adede Kufre Inima, will work diligently with all relevant stakeholders to deliver a successful and memorable tournament in Akwa Ibom State.
