GRASOF appoints Fanny Amun Ambassador for 3rd Senate President U-28 annual Unity Cup

The Grassroots Sports Federation (GRASOF) has officially appointed Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON, as an Ambassador for the 3rd Edition of the Senate President Under-18 Annual Unity Cup 2026, scheduled to hold in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Akwa Ibom State, in October/November 2026.

The appointment, contained in an official letter dated 3 August 2026 and signed by the National President of GRASOF, Hon. John Ekpenyong, recognises Ambassador Amun’s outstanding contributions to Nigerian football, youth development and grassroots sports.

Ambassador Amun, a former coach of the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning Nigerian team, former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Technical Director of the NFA, and former Assistant Director at the Federal Ministry of Sports, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the national youth football initiative.

According to GRASOF, his appointment is aimed at further strengthening the tournament’s objectives of grassroots talent discovery, youth empowerment, peace, unity and national development through sports.

As Ambassador, Amun is expected to serve as a prominent face and voice of the tournament, mentor participating young athletes, promote grassroots talent discovery and champion the GRASOF vision of using sports as a vehicle for peace, unity and youth empowerment.

The 3rd Senate President Under-18 Annual Unity Cup will feature 24 male and female teams from across Nigeria, with Akwa Ibom State serving as host. The first two editions of the competition were described by GRASOF as successful.

The Federation expressed confidence that Ambassador Amun’s experience, passion and commitment to grassroots football will add significant value to the third edition and inspire the next generation of Nigerian football talents.
