'Doma FC was robbed in Aba'
A fan of Doma FC, Ibrahim Yusuf has come hard on the security architecture of clubs playing in the Nigeria Premier Football League, alleging that home fans put fear into referees, walk up to them and make them take decisions that suit their teams.
Referring to his team's weekend match against Enyiimba of Aba that saw the Aba fans encroaching the pitch to dictate to the centre referee, Nura Abdullahi from Zamfara and forcing him to change his earlier decision.
" It's so funny that in a situation were there is no VAR, fans could make referee leave the pitch to go watch replay at the OB van and change the decision he had earlier taken with the assistant referees raising of an offside flag.
"A lot must have happened on the way to the OB van, in the OB van and on the way back to the pitch for him to award the goal back to Enyimba," Yusuf said.
He added that the league board must do a lot in bringing sanity to the league in the area of fans encroachment and harassment of referees .
"The centre referee in the match between Enyinba and Doma, Nura Abdullahi had earlier blew for a goal before one of the assistant referees told him he had raised an offside flag.
"He canceled the goal and gave a goal kick, but the Enyimba players approached him to change his decision, these made some of the fans to encroach the pitch and dragged him to the OB van to watch the clips of the match.
The referees came back and re awarded the goal to Enyimba and saw the match ending 1- 0 in favour of Enyimba."
