Lookman plays for 24mins in Atletico win

Former Africa Footballer of the Year and Super Eagles star, Ademola Lookman played for just 24 minutes in Atletico Madrid's 1-0 win over Getafe at the Estadio Riyadh Air Metropolitano this evening.

Atletico went ahead in the 8th minute through Nahuel Molina in the highly tensed game.

With the slim uncomfortable lead and Getafe pressing for the equalizer, coach Diego Simeone tried injecting freshness with Lookman replacing Thiago Almada in the 66th minute but the scoreline stood even with about 10 minutes added time.

The last time Lookman scored for Atlético Madrid was on February 22, 2026, in a 4-2 La Liga victory against Espanyol, where he scored in the 58th minute.

Since joining in January 2026 from Atalanta, the Nigerian forward has made a strong impact, recording four goals and two assists in his first six appearances across competitions.
