Super Eagles job: Chelle's likely successor emerges

United States based Nigerian coach, Michael Nsien is reportedly the favourite to be handed the Super Eagles job in the event that the present coach of the team Eric Chelle leaves his post.

Chelle is locked in contract talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on a new deal, with one year left to run on his current deal as coach of the senior national team of Nigeria.

The coach who led Nigeria to a third place finish at the AFCON, playing an impressive brand of football is the prime target of Angola after the departure of their coach following a poor campaign at the AFCON.

Talks with Chelle isn’t going as smooth as expected, largely due to the fact that the coach switched to a new agent who is reportedly behind the offer from Angola.

Sources at the NFF say in the event that he decided to walk away from his contract, US based Nsien who was in the running before Chelle was appointed is the favourite for the job.

A former U23 international for Nigeria, he has worked in a lot of positions in America starting of with Tulsa FC where he moved from academy director role to becoming the head coach.

His job earned him a job with the U16 team of the USA from where he stepped up to the U19/20 as head coach last year. He is presently the assistant coach of Major League Soccer (MLS) side Nashville SC.
