Southampton wants €15m for Onuachu
Premier League bound Southampton wants €15m for Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu this summer, with Trabzonspor in talks to make his loan deal permanent.
According to the President of the Turkish Super Lig club, Ertuğrul Doğan, who has revealed he is in talks over a permanent move with Southampton.
The Nigerian has been spending this season on loan with the Turkish side after it was made clear he wasn’t a part of Southampton’s plans following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
He’s proven to be a massive success for Trabzonspor, bagging 14 goals and four assists in 20 league games despite only playing in 50% of the available minutes.
The club is keen on a permanent deal but has also been trying to explore the possibility of getting the 29-year-old on loan again and saving money.
Southampton, though, has long made it clear it doesn’t want that and instead wants Onuachu off its books permanently, especially if the team doesn’t secure a return to the Premier League this season.
And Doğan has confirmed as much, revealing their stance in negotiations with his comments on the potential move today.
“Southampton want a transfer fee of €15m for Onuachu,” he said.
“Our talks continue. We will wait for our coach’s report for Pepe and Orsic. We have been working very intensively on the transfer since February.
“As of now, we have signed the transfers of four players. We can add three more names to this. We will meet with a football player this week.”
