South Africa U-19 vs Ghana
Ghana looked to bounce back from an overwhelming defeat against Rwanda while South Africa will get a chance to make an early statement in this tournament.
South Africa U-19 won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening pair of Chanel Venter and Ashley Barnard started quite comfortable but the partnership did not last log as venter was caught at mid-wicket in the second over with 12 runs on the board.
Ghana was quick to strike again in the 4th over Ashey departed for just 8 runs and South Africa on 24 runs.
At the end of 6 hours of power play, South Africa were on 48 runs still for the loss of 2 wickets. Ghana struggled to get another wicket as South Africa built a formidable partnership to reach 77 runs. Ghana got their 3rd wicket in the 15th over but not before Mieke Van Voorst scored a brilliant 50 runs off 34 balls. South Africa U-19 eventually finished with 168 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.
Siphokuhle Masilela scored 37 runs off 44 balls, supported by Rethabile Nthoba Jae Leigh Finalder with 17 runs off 12 balls respectively as the best batting contribution for Team South Africa U-19.
Kate Awua got 2 wickets, conceding 22 runs in 4 overs for Ghana.
The second innings resumed with South Africa U-19 on the front foot, dismissing Annor Elizabeth in the second over with just 5 runs on the board for Ghana. At the end of the batting power play, Ghana had 26 runs on the board still for the fall of 1 wicket. South Africa got the breakthrough soon after by dismissing Kate Awuah who scored 12 runs off 18 balls. Last ball before strategic time out, Ghana lost the 3 wickets with 43 runs on the board.
Wickets continue to fall as the spinners did all the damage, leaving Ghana struggling with a decent response.
South Africa U-19 wrapped up proceeding by restricting Ghana to a meager score of 69 runs all out in 19.3 overs.

Zimbabwe U-19 vs Rwanda
Reeling from the record-breaking performance against Ghana, Rwanda won the toss and elected to bat first. Like nothing changed, Rwanda opening pair of Gisele Ishimwe and Fanny Utagushimaninde started off with boundaries as they raced quickly to 32 runs in 5.5 overs. Fanny was dismissed for just 6 runs off 20 balls at Rwanda completed the 6 overs of batting power play.
Rwanda kept the board ticking, hitting 52 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 10 overs. Gisele Ishimwe took the game to Zimbabwe by scoring a brilliant 40 runs off 32 balls before she was dismissed LBW in the 14th over and Rwanda on 75 runs. Clarisse Umutoniwase was the next to depart for 19 runs off 23 deliveries in the 16th over to leave Rwanda on 94. Runs
Rwanda finished the innings with 143 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Tawanayasha, Buhlebenkosi, Christina, and Tadiwa Garutsa all took 1 wicket each as the best bowling contribution for Zimbabwe Women’s U-19.
In the second innings, Beloved Biza scored a boundary of the first delivery to get set Zimbabwe off to a good start but that was halted quicky in the second over when Nicollette Nyika was caught at point as Zimbabwe lost the first wicket on 5 runs.
Wicket fell in quick successions as Zimbabwe Women’s U-19 struggled to settle into their run chase. At the end of 6 overs of batting power play, Zimbabwe were 32 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Midway into the innings, Zimbabwe were 59 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. A late fight ensured that Zimbabwe kept the score respectable by finishing with 83 runs all out in 13.4 overs.
Christina Mutasa scored 41 runs off 27 balls as the best batting figure for Zimbabwe Women’s U-19.
Diane Bimenyimana got 4 wickets, conceding 17 runs in 3.4 overs, supported by Shimwamana Rosette with 3 wickets, conceding 28 runs in 3 overs and finally Rosine Irera with 2 wickets, conceding 19 runs in 3 overs.
Diane Marie Bimenyimana was named player of the match.
