SCL Football Academy relocates to Iseyin, begins intensive training under Coach Foley

Players and staff of Sporting Club Laurentian Football Academy (SCL) have relocated from Ibadan to Iseyin where the soccer citadel is currently holding intensive training sessions under Folabi Ojekunle popularly known as Coach Foley.

The academy, founded by Canadian football administrator, Runo Awenode, is home to young players from Nigeria, Ghana, and The Gambia.

Awenode’s aim is to provide a platform and pathway for youngsters to move to Europe directly from their localities.

To achieve this in Nigeria, Awenode has appointed Coach Foley as Head of the coaching crew with the mandate to train, reshape, and prepare the players for transfer opportunities.

Foley, who previously coached Eko United and Kogi United, resumed duty in Iseyin two weeks ago with him and his wards using the Ebedi Township Stadium for daily activities.

Speaking on the SCL project in Nigeria, the Academy's President Runo Awenode said he is determined to help young and talented players achieve their football dreams.

“There are countless talents in Nigeria and fishing them out and nurturing them to stardom is our major objective at SCL Football Academy” Awenode explained.

Before relocating to Iseyin, SCL Football Academy were in January able to transfer Nigerian striker Ayomide Wahab to Turkish's Club Igdir F.K where the 19-year-old scored 17 goals in 12 games.

The Academy is also in top gear to make sure that more players are transferred to Europe.
