NSC operating illegally without board - Shaibu
The Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), Comrade Philip Shaibu has tell the chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Malam Shehu Dikko to immediately inaugurate the governing board of the commission without further delay.
Speaking in Okpekpe, Edo State yesterday, Comrade Shaibu said the delay in constituting the board is hampering the development of sports in the country.
According to him, Dikko is empowered to constitute the statutory board but his body language is against that, stressing that without a proper board, the NSC can't achieve the Renewed Hope President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has for sports.
"Members of the board are known but the chairman of NSC is running away from inaugurating the board for reasons best known to him.
"I'm aware that the president has good plans for sports and he's ready to go to any length to achieve his plan. But the vehicle to achieve that is not available. Whatever the NSC is doing is actually illegal without a board and that's the reason we're not moving forward.
"I've nothing against Dikko or Olopade but the right thing should be done. And that is by setting up the board of the NSC," the NIS DG said.
