House of Reps' Sports Committee to visit NFF Secretariat Nov 20
By Mike Ndidi, Abuja
The House of Representatives' Committee on Sports has informed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that it was going to pay an oversight function visit to its Sunday Dankaro House secretariat in Abuja on Thursday November 20.
In a letter dated October 31, the Sports Committee reminded the NFF that the visit was part of its oversight functions and one of its legislative duties.
The NFF has recently been under a barrage of criticism, with part of it a misleading narrative about some of its workings.
This visit will further afford the federal lawmakers the opportunity to see the progress achieved by the Ibrahim Musa Gusau-led administration on the FIFA Forward 3.0 Programme.
This FIFA programme includes a 68-room players' hostel, two new training pitches (one synthetic and one natural grass), with spectator terraces having 1,838 seats.
This project is located at the heart of the Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, almost directly opposite the NFF Secretariat.
The visitors will meet an NFF where its leaders and other staff might just have been returning with happy faces from Morocco where they would have been with the Super Eagles contingent to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa Playoffs.
The playoffs, a crucial mini-tournament, is part of the qualification process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and success in Morocco has a big part to play in the perception and appreciation of the developmental strides made so far by the Gusau-led NFF Executive Committee.
