Garba Lawal urges NNL to look for sponsors

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Garba Lawal has urged the Nigeria National League (NNL) board to urgently look for a title sponsor.

Lawal, the General Manager of Kada Warriors said the NNL desperately needs funds to sustain their programmes.

He, therefore, challenged the new NNL management to consider aggressive search for sponsors to assist with funding.

'The people coming on board should focus on referees indemnities. The NNL should go and look for sponsors so that they can pay referees well, it shouldn't be the clubs paying referees logistics, it's not a good idea.

"Referees are the actors, once they are comfortable everything will go well with officiating," he said.

With 16 players of Kada Warriors pouched by other clubs, the General manager, while lamenting the exodus of his players, however, said he can't stop them from moving.

"When they have offers in the Premier League and better offers in the National League , you can not stop them. It's better you let them go, because holding them back might backfire.

"The players might end up not giving you 100%, then why hold him. You have to be fair, that is football for you you. It happened like that in our playing days, some people will go and some will come," he stressed.

Lawal refused to promise the club fans promotion, rather he waxed rhetorical, saying he can't tell.

"Everyone want to win, all clubs will tell you they want to win, but game after game the true picture of champions will emerge. I believe in my coach Dalanmi Kwasau. I like his philosophy and methodology, I played with him in NUB, he is a kind of person who believes in using good players without sentiment and if you are good and not giving the best, he can use an average player who is serious."
