Egypt will host Africa's biggest beach volleyball event the 2026 CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Senior Championships.

The competition will take place in Alexandria from August 17 to 23, with places at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games also on the line.

The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) announced on Wednesday that the Egypt Volleyball Federation has been awarded the hosting rights for the continental showpiece following the successful conclusion of the zonal qualifying tournaments.

The championship will feature Africa's top men's and women's beach volleyball teams battling for continental honours as well as qualification to the LA2028 Olympic Games, making it one of the most important events on the African volleyball calendar.

CAVB has invited all qualified National Federations to submit their Entry by Name forms for athletes and team officials ahead of the tournament to ensure smooth preparations.

According to the competition schedule, participating delegations will arrive in Alexandria on August 17 for the Preliminary Inquiry and Technical Meeting. Matches will be played from August 18 to 22, while teams will depart on August 23.

The tournament is expected to bring together the continent's finest beach volleyball players, offering them the opportunity to compete for the African title while taking a crucial step towards securing a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

CAVB also urged all qualified National Federations to complete and submit the required registration documents within the stipulated deadline to facilitate the successful organisation of the championship.
