Super Eagles battle Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana

Regional rivalries will be reignited when the African Nations League gets underway with the Super Eagles up for epic battles against reigning AFCON champions Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced that the African Nations League will kick off in 2029 and it will be played across four regional zones of the continent – North Africa, West Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa.

The zonal winners will then do battle to decide the champions of the Nations League.

The competition, which was inspired by the UEFA Nations League, will be played every two years and matches will be during the international breaks to ensure the teams have their best players in attendance.

CAF plan this new competition will go on to be their biggest income earner ahead of the AFCON, which will after 2028 be staged every four years.
