Muslims on Wednesday began their 30 days Ramadan fasting during which during which time they're expected to abstain from food, drink and sexual relationship before the first light of dawn, until the setting of the sun while Christians Ash Wednesday begins with 40 days fasting which will end with the celebration of the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

According to Gawuna, the fasting period is a time for sobber reflection when people are supposed to refrain from all negative behavior and commune with God daily.

" It's not by coincidence that the two religions are beginning their fasting today. What I want to advise is that fasting is a period of sobber reflection and absenance from negative behavior and I want adherents of the two religions to be tolerant, peaceful as well as show love to their neighbours", noted the former Deputy Governor of Kano State.
