White Tigers Football Club has emerged champion of the of the maiden Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament in Lagos.

In the grand finale played at the Stables sports center in Surulere on Saturday, White Tigers FC defeated All Saints football club 2-1 to secure the coveted trophy and a prize money of N5 million. Abubakar Diggio and Afeez Rahman scored for White Tigers, while Hammed Wahab got the only goal for All Saints FC in an entertaining final.

ASD Academy defeated 2 Odds FC 2-1 in penalty shootout to claim the third place prize after regulation time ended with two goals apiece for either sides.

Wahab Hammed of All Saints emerged the tournament MVP top scorer with 12 goals. The Best goalkeeper Award went to Emmanuel Esin of White Tigers, while Emmanuel Olum of the same team was named the coach of the tournament. All Saints FC bagged the Fair Play Award.

Several top dignitaries were in attendance on the final day of the tournament. These includes Ex-internationals, high profile persons from the corporate world, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission Lekan Fatodu, amongst others.

The initiator of the tournament Dr.Bankole Allibay, expressed his delight on the overall success of the event as he promised a more expansive competition in 2024.

"This is our maiden event and must tell you that i am impressed with what we have been able to achieve, today we gave N10 million to our winners across board, but i will like to assure you that in next edition we are already looking at N50 million as the prize money for the top 3 teams"

The Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament started in March 2024 with 40 teams in the regional qualifiers across all selected Local Government Areas in Lagos State.
