Tobi Amusan retains 100m hurdles
. Leads Nigeria to 100×4 gold medal
World-Record holder, Tobi Amusan, wins the women’s 100m hurdles final, with a time of 12.89s.
After enduring a false start, which earned her a yellow card, Amusan raced to the finish line ahead of Madagascar’s Sidonie Fiadanantsoa who got the silver medal after finishing way behind Amosu with a time of 13.19 sec while Zimbabwe’s Kamangirira Ashley Tinashe who clocked 13.59 for the bronze medal.
It was a back to back triumph for Nigeria and her third in succession after winning in Brazzaville, Congo in 2015 and Rabat, Morocco in 2019.
Few minutes later, Amusan anchored the Nigeria's women 100×4 to another gold medal.
In the Women’s 400m, another Nigerian, Esther Joseph clinched the silver medal with a time of 51.61 behind Kenyan Mary Moraa who won the gold medal in 50.57 sec.
Burundi’s Sita Sibiri came third with her country’s National Record of 51.74 sec.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s Angella Okutoyi caused the biggest upset in Women's Single tennis.
The Auburn University student beat Egypt's Mayar Sherif (defending champion and World No.70) 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(5) to reach the final.
