St.Gregory’s ’96 set celebrates 30th anniversary in grand style
The members of the 1996 set of prestigious St. Gregory's College Obalende, Lagos are set to celebrate their 30th reunion anniversary in grand style.
On Friday August 21st, a Jumaat service took place to kick start the programme at the school premises while on Saturday August 22nd a novelty match is on the cards as part of the activities for the anniversary of the alumni body of the school.
Early Saturday at 9am on the school pitch of St. Gregory's College the 1996 set will vie for honours against the set of 1995.
The organisers tag the novelty match as ‘a clash of pride, a day to remember.’
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Peter Essien, on Wednesday told newsmen that all was set for all the activities of the 30th anniversary event.
“We have been planning for this in the past one year and we are excited the time is here to see ourselves and merry after about 30 years.
“The football match will be fun and exciting but we have other activities like health talk, giving back to the school project, dinner also on the loaded Saturday,” Essien said.
The Chairman of one of the Project Sub Committees, Soji Williams, is in charge of the solar project to be donated to the school on Saturday.
Willams said: “The Solar project will Supply light to the science block, guarantee a non-stop power activities around that part for both the students and the senior staff and also create a more relaxed atmosphere for operations.
“It's nothing but a dream come through, such one seeing that we are creating an atmosphere for young generation of our time, to be relaxed, studying, taking lectures, also understanding the right and necessary amenities that is needed to make education interesting and above all a certainty at the St. Gregory's College.”
