Rehoboth FC battle Believers FC in 21st Bishop Mike Okonkwo Cup Final

Defending champions, Rehoboth Fc and Believers Fc are set for an exciting final after securing their places in the ongoing 21st edition of the annual Bishop Mike Okonkwo Football championship.

To get to the finals, Rehoboth, defeated Future Stars 99 Fc 1-0 while Believers Fc despatched Giggson Fc 3-1 in the second semi final clash decided at Bridge Institute ( NITEL) playground, Oshodi.

In the women category, Wabbak Fc will meet Future Stars 99 Fc to determine who will be crowned champion of both competitions that will be decided on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Speaking ahead of the finals, Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee of the championship, Deacon Malachy Ndubuzor, said that they're putting things together to ensure a successful finals, noting that all the teams that qualified for the finals are capable of lifting the trophy.

"I want to tell you that we're looking forward to a successful finals on the 29th of this month. All the teams that qualified for the finals are worthy finalists and as has been the tradition of the championship since inception, the finals will be explosive.

Ndubuzor commended all the teams that participated in this year's tournament, even as he expressed happiness that the competition since inception has produced talented footballers who have represented the country at the international level.

According to Ndubuzor, the finals will also be used to mark the birthday of the presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission( TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo.

A total of 32 male and 8 female teams registered for the tournament which was played on home and away basis before getting to the final stage.
