Penafort Energy/PFC All Stars dangle ₦6m on football championship
A total of 12 Lagos-based All Stars Football Clubs are set to share ₦6,000,000 (Six Million Naira) after the organizers announced the total prize pool for the inaugural edition of the Penafort Energy/PFC All Stars Football Championship.
The All Stars Football tournament is scheduled to kick off on September 20th at the Post Service Football Club pitch in Ojo, opposite Lagos State University.
In a press conference over the weekend, High Chief Simeon Emelifi, also known as 'Too Much Money' and President of PFC All Stars Football Club, addressed the media: "We founded this club with a clear vision — to nurture local talent, promote the spirit of sportsmanship, and bring top-level football closer to the grassroots.
"We continue our mission to grow not just a team, but a legacy right here in the heart of Lagos. Today's announcement signifies that our vision is becoming a reality. Our players are training harder, our fan base is growing stronger, and the PFC All Stars name is resonating beyond Lagos into national conversations.
"This season, we are focusing on three key areas: development, discipline, and delivery. We are investing in youth academies, upgrading our facilities, and fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the pitch."
Chief Chigozie Nwafor, the LOC boss, explained the format for the 12-team tournament. "The championship is open to All-Star players aged 40 and above, and the event will last for a month.
"The winner will receive ₦3,000,000; the first runner-up will receive ₦2,000,000, while the third-placed team will take home ₦1,000,000.
"To prevent any form of age cheating, players will be required to present their National Identification Number (NIN). Additionally, mandatory health checks will be conducted on each player by a certified medical team present on match days.
