Over reliance on foreign players affecting Nigeria's football - Majin Mohammed

The dwindling fortunes of Nigerian football has been tied to the neglect of home-based players in the league.
In this interview with www.sportsunlimited.ng's Vincent Akinbami, Niger Tornadoes technical adviser, Majin Mohammed profers solution, suggesting that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should return to the era of players playing at home dominating the national teams.

How will you describe the season so far?
The season so far has been good, every team is doing its best to make sure that at the end of the season it will achieve success or win the league or avoid being dropped
What as made Niger Tornadoes thick this season?
Commitment from all the stakeholders, and most importantly playing in front of teaming supporters on like previous seasons that Tornadoes used to play away from home.
What do you have to say about continuity in the use of players season in and out?
It's not good for the growth of the league. In addition, it does not give opportunity for the development of the young players, also the quest for quick results. These are the reasons for the poor our performances of our teams at the Continental competition
What are the chances of Tornadoes going continental?
It's for us to continue to work hard, in addition, to improve in our games especially away matches. Hopefully, we do not record serious injuries, then see how we can bring in one or two players to straighten the team.
What are the the clubs you played for in the past?
My football career started with Mokwa United, NEPA Jebba, Niger Tornadoes, BCC Lions of Gboko and back to Niger Tornadoes.
Which clubs have you handled in the course of your coaching career?
After my playing career I was sent for a coaching course by the management of Niger Tornadoes. On return, I was drafted to the Niger Tornadoes Feeder Team and I worked with Coach John Obuh at the National Under 20 in 2013. Though I did not make it to the World Cup, I returned to Tornadoes Feeder Team and from there to Kwara United and back to Tornadoes.
What can you say about the talent in the league?
Honestly, we have a lot of talent in the but these talented players are not given the opportunity when it comes to the National team. We are rely too much on the foreign players and that's why we are seeing the results we are getting now. We should mix together those that are doing well outside and the ones that are also doing well in the local league, that is how it has been. In my opinion, we most be patient and go back to the old era and build a solid team that Nigerian will be proud of.
