Macito Solution FC, Uyo emerged champions of the 5th Pastor Umo Eno Easter Under-17 Unity Cup after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Hon. Frank Archibong Babes FC, Eket in Friday’s Grand Finale at the Uyo Township Stadium.

The Eket boys created several clear chances but failed to convert, as Macito Solution held firm to clinch the title in a pulsating encounter that had Chief WhipRtHonsirEffiongJohnson, and thousands of fans on their feet. The final was the climax of activities marking the Governor’s 62nd birthday.

Addressing the crowd, GRASOF National President, Hon. John Ekpenyong, described Governor Umo Eno as the greatest supporter of grassroots sports in Nigeria today” and said the day marked “two victories” — the victory of vision over despair, and the celebration of a leader whose ARISE Agenda has empowered over 6,000 youths across the 31 LGAs through football.

Your Excellency, the best birthday gift we can give you is this stadium filled with the laughter, passion, and dreams of the young people you have empowered.

Hon. Ekpenyong hailed both teams: “Macito Solution FC and Hon. Frank Archibong Babes FC — you are champions. The Eket boys missed several opportunities, but that’s football. For 3 weeks, you showed discipline, courage, and unity. Today, Macito lifts the trophy 2-1, but Akwa Ibom has won. Scouts are here. Agents are watching. Your journey to greatness starts on this pitch.”

3. ₦500,000 Pledge Announced:

₦500,000 pledge by Rt. Hon. Sir Chief Effiong Johnson, Chief Whip, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, and Mr. Etiene Asukwo, Tournament Ambassador donated golden boot to MVP of the tournament, to support the development of the players and the 5th edition of the Unity Cup. “This is leadership by example, and we are grateful,” Ekpenyong stated.

4. Appreciation to Partners:

He acknowledged the Ministry of Sports Development under Elder Paul Bassey for givingus the facilities; honourees Rt. Hon. Sir Chief Effiong Johnson, Oku Ibom Ibibio represented by Chief Bassey Usoro, Atuekong Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ebe, and Hon. Frank Archibong; *Pastor Emmanuel Ebong,Rt.Hon Unyime Idems, National Vice President, School Sports Federation; and all team managers who mobilized youths for the tournament.
