Osun hockey coach attributes loss to fatigue

The coach of Osun state Hockey team, Eluwole Bode has attributed his female team's 1-0 loss to Pólice IG team at the opening match of 2024 National Hockey League Championship to fatique, poor mastery of the astroturf pitch and some mistakes in officiating.

Addressing journalists after the loss to the Police IG female team, he blamed fatique, poor preparation and carelessness of match officials

"We came into Kaduna 3.am this morning and played around 8.30am. You can see it was fatique and stress.

"And during preparation, we camped using an half field which is not an astroturf. We had wanted to camp for say two weeks using astroturf, which would have prepared us better.

"Despite all the issues above, our girls did well losing only 1-0. The fans praised our young team and said we have good team.

He praised Governor Adeleke for coming to their aid in the dying minutes.

On the team's chances to pick the sole ticket to represent Nigeria in Hockey Africa championship in December, coach Bode is keeping hope alive.

"We still have chances, we still have three more matches and if we çan win our next two matches it will put us in better stead."

Kaduna male and female teams are the defending champions of the Nigeria Hockey National Super League.
