For the first time in four years Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen started a match for the national team without wearing his protective mask.

For the first time in four years Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen started a match for the national team without wearing his protective mask.

Osimhen stepped into the pitch in the clash against Mambas on Monday night without his usual protective mask.

He nonetheless returned to the mask just few minutes before scoring Super Eagles second goal of the match.

Recall that Osimhen began wearing protective mask in November 2021 after suffering head injury.

The Nigeria cum Galatasaray talisman it will equally be recalled revealed that the incident which led to him wearing the mask occurred in 2021 during a Serie A match between Napoli and Inter Milan.

Osimhen who made his senior nation team debut in 2017, has since scored 32 goals for the Eagles and still counting .

The former Napoli ace saw 70 minutes action in the game against Mozambique before making way for Paul Onuachu.

Interestingly it was double celebration for Osimhen as Galatasaray defeated Trabzonspor 4-1 in the Turkish Super Cup
