NSC's another 'illegal' FG parastatal - Ndubuoke 

Against the backdrop of the discovery of illegal government agencies, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has been described another of such that should be dismantled.

A former Nigeria Football Association (NFA) board member and former National President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Fan Ndubuoke contend that the NSC should be devoid of one or two-man show, arguing that the composition of board, according to the Act, provides for a 19-member board.

"I've had cause to discuss with Shehu Dikko on the anormally and promised to constitute the board but almost two years after, it's the same two-man show.

"That in itself makes the NSC a ghost parastatal. The chairman Senate Committee on Sports when the bill establishing the NSC was signed was Senator Obinna Ogba and he's alive.

"With President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's shortcomings, sports have enjoyed support from him in terms of funding and attention. He's perhaps the first President to devote such huge resources to sports, including giving the Super Falcons players 100,000 dollars each.

"Sadly, if we consider the NSC Act, they money the FG is giving them amount to illegality because there's not been a proper board to manage the commission," the former Managing Editor of the defunct National Sportslink newspaper said.
