The chairman of Green Atlas Football Club, Dr Tayo Moses Adebisi has called on the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to urgently revive school sports.
Speaking in an interview with www.sportsunlimited.ng, Dr Abebisi said it obvious Nigeria missed it somewhere and somehow.
"I remember in the 70s into early 90s when talents made it straight from secondary school to national teams and clubs. And those period remains our glory days in sports.
He added that poor organisations, poor management of sport event and corruption have pushed sponsors and partners away and this is eroding sincerity in picking the best during sporting events.
"Who knows who as become a problem, nurturing talents even when discovered has also become a problem.
"Population has increased so we must change our style from how we used to do it to get result," he advised.
Dr Adebisi said there are still talents scattered around the federation in all sports but the system as been bastardized discouraging lots of potentials pursuing a living in other sectors and leaving the rest on the streets.
There is a need for stakeholders to look at our present predicament as a nation and map out strategies to bring us out of the hoods.
