NPFL fines Rangers N4m for breaching league rules
Rangers have been charged for breaching the NPFL Framework Rules in their home fixture against Barau FC on Sunday, April 5, 2026 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
The Flying Antelopes, according to a statement from the NPFL, failed to provide adequate and effective security in the match which resulted in unauthorized persons gaining access to restricted areas.
The club's officials also exhibited capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
Rangers further failed to ensure the proper conduct of their supporters which led to the harassment of the match officials.
The club's supporters were also alleged to have engaged in gross misconduct against match officials, a conduct that undermines the league's integrity.
For breaching these rules, therefore, the Enugu club has been fined N1m for failure to provide adequate and effective security and another N1m for encroachment towards the field of play.
The club will also pay a fine of N1m for unsporting behaviour of their officials, capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
Another N1m fine is imposed on Rangers for failure to ensure proper conduct of their supporters which resulted in harassment of match officials.
Rangers will now play their remaining two home matches behind closed doors.
The club has within 48 hours from the date of the notice of sanctions to appeal.
