Sporting Lagos has opened an assailable lead in the race to emerge overall champions of the Nigeria National League with the second win in as many matches at the ongoing Super 4 in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Coming after a narrow 1-0 win over Ranchers Bees in the opening game on Monday, the 'Noisy' Lagosians walloped Doma United 4-0 in the second game Wednesday evening.

Sporting Lagos’ left-side-winger, Seun Akanji opened the floodgate of goals followed by Shola Oladunjoye who pounced on a loose ball, off a shot from Victor Samuel in the 47th minute for the second goal for the Lagosians.

Skipper of the side, Solomon Uloko, who gains inspiration for each match by reading the Holy Bible, also hit target twice in spectacular style within the last six minutes, to put icing on the sweet cake that Akanji earlier set in motion.

The victory effectively put Sporting Lagos on the driving seat of the table with the maximum six points.

Fellow Lagos side, Inter Lagos made up for the opening day defeat to Doma United to bounce back to reckoning with a 2-0 victory over Ranchers Bees who have lost their two matches.

Doma United are in third position, thanks to their opening day 1-0 win over Inter Lagos while Ranchers Bees are rooted to the bottom of the table with two defeats and a minus three goals.

The next matches are going to be decisive as Inter Lagos battle sister club, Sporting Lagos.

While Sporting Lagos need just a point to emerge the 2025/2026 champions, Inter Lagos must squeeze out a win, with a wide margin and hoping Doma United do not turn the table in an all-northern affair to displace Sporting at the top.

For Ranchers Bees, the joy of returning to the elite Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will be a consolation if they decide not to play a spoiler role for Doma United.
