NIS showcases new institutional mandate at NECA 2-day exhibition workshop in Abuja

The National Institute for Sports (NIS) on Monday showcases its institutional mandate at the Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association (NECA) two-day exhibition workshop at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja bringing together the Nigeria Employers' team and key stakeholders to strengthen private / public partnership.

The programme serves as a strategic platform to showcase the renewed core mandate of the National Institute for Sports as a leading institution for sports education, research, capacity development, and human capital advancement in Nigeria.

The exhibition workshop put together by NECA is in line with the advocacy of the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports, H.E. Comrade Philip Shaibu, who has continued to promote public-private partnerships as a key strategy for repositioning the Institute and expanding opportunities for youth development, skills acquisition, and national growth.

As part of the engagement, NECA highlighted its commitment to tackling unemployment through innovative employability initiatives. Participants were introduced to NECA's Job Seekers' Database, which connects employers with qualified professionals, and the NECA ICT Academy, established in 2020 to equip young Nigerians with in-demand skills such as Python Programming, ICDL certification, Digital Marketing, Graphics Design, and Web Design, while promoting entrepreneurship and globally recognized certifications.

The workshop emphasizes the importance of partnerships in addressing youth unemployment and building a workforce equipped for the demands of a modern economy. By collaborating with NECA, the National Institute for Sports reinforces its commitment to producing highly skilled professionals, expanding opportunities for Nigerian youths, and positioning sports as a catalyst for national development.

The two-day event was well attended by the NIS Consultant, Dr. Majoroh Uruemu, alongside directors, management staff, and other top officials of the Institute, as well as representatives of the Nigeria Employers' Consultative Association.

The programme reflects the shared vision of NIS and NECA to promote innovation, employability, and sustainable economic growth through education, skills acquisition, and strategic institutional collaboration.
