NIS delegation inspects Adamawa facilities ahead academic take-off

The National Institute for Sports (NIS) has conducted an inspection visit to Adamawa State to assess facilities ahead of the institute’s official commencement of academic activities in the state.

The visit which reflects the growing collaboration between the National Institute for Sports and the Adamawa State Government, aimed at strengthening sports development, institutional capacity, and administrative efficiency in the North-East region.

The inspection team was led by the NIS registrar, Mr. Belmond Benson, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of infrastructure and logistical support provided by the Adamawa State Government.

He noted that the facilities inspected meet the required standards for the smooth commencement of both academic and administrative operations. According to him, the state government has demonstrated strong commitment and readiness to support the institute’s take-off.

Mr. Benson further assured that all newly posted staff to Adamawa would receive the necessary institutional backing to enable them settle quickly and perform their responsibilities effectively.

He emphasized that sustained cooperation between the host state and the institute remains critical to ensuring a seamless and successful launch.

Also speaking during the inspection, Dr. Maj Remu, a Consultant with the National Institute for Sports, commended the Adamawa State Government for making the facilities readily available. He described the development as a significant step toward expanding access to sports education and professional training opportunities in the region.

Dr. Maj added that, based on the level of progress observed, the facilities are expected to be fully ready for use by 12th April 2026, expressing optimism that all finishing touches would be completed ahead of the proposed date to allow for the formal commencement of activities.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Albert Sambo, reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to host the institute and pledged continued support to ensure its success.

Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Abdulkareem Bakala, assured that the administration would prioritize the safety and security of all NIS staff, guaranteeing a conducive environment for effective operations and long-term partnership.

The visit marks a significant step in the institute’s expansion drive and reflects a shared vision between the federal institution and the Adamawa State Government to advance sports education and development across Nigeria.
