‎The National Institute for Sports, NIS has advised coaches currently wrapping up their Basic certificate course against cutting corners to success.

‎The Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of the NIS, His Excellency, Comrade Philip Shaibu made the charge during an interaction with the students at the Abuja campus of the institute inside the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja

‎Comrade Shaibu while commending the coaches for their good conduct so far, he beckons them not to be in a hurry to conclude their program due to the festivity ahead but assured that the calendar will be followed thoroughly.

‎"I know we are setting new standards and the standard is our processes. We must make sure that the academic calendar and programmes, must be followed "the way it is approved. When you try to cut any corners, it reduces the potency of your certificate.

‎And for us, the new NIS will not cut any corners. That is the only way our certificate will be worthwhile and it will be recognized anywhere in the world. No matter the inconveniences, it is better we are inconvenienced and the product of our sacrifice is worthwhile and I'm sure none of you want to see all the time you have spent here is wasted." Shaibu explained.

"Remember that the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu mean well for sports and here , we aligned with his renewed hope agenda in using sports as to engage our youths.

‎He further reaffirms the outgoing students as the ambassadors noting that they will be needed in future to train and model upcoming coaches and be trusted to take up jobs even outside the shores of Nigeria.

‎"We need you to be good ambassadors as you are also going to be used to train others. So we cannot give you half-baked education and rely on you to come and teach others. That is why we are insisting that our standard must be adhered to." He concluded.

‎The 2025 Basic coaching course will end on Thursday 18th, December 2025 with presentation of certificates to the participants.
