Nigeria 'll not miss out on any FIFA World Cup if elected NFF President – Segun Solanke

Nigerian football administrator and presidential aspirant for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Segun Solanke, has declared that Nigeria's repeated failure to qualify for major FIFA World Cup tournaments will become a thing of the past if he is elected President of the Federation.

Solanke made the bold declaration while outlining his vision for Nigerian football, assuring stakeholders that his administration would prioritize strategic planning, grassroots development, sound technical programmes, and transparent football governance to restore the country's status among the world's football elite.

According to him, Nigeria possesses an abundance of football talent, but the nation has continued to fall short because of inadequate planning, poor developmental structures, and the absence of a sustainable football roadmap.

"The Super Eagles, Super Falcons, and our youth national teams have the quality to compete with the best in the world. What we need is purposeful leadership, proper planning, and an efficient football system.

 "If I am given the mandate to lead the Nigeria Football Federation, Nigeria will not miss out on FIFA World Cup competitions again," Solanke stated.

The NFF presidential hopeful stressed that qualification for global tournaments must not be treated as an achievement but as a minimum expectation for a football-loving nation like Nigeria.

He promised to build a football structure that emphasizes early talent identification, continuous coach education, improved welfare for players and officials, stronger domestic leagues, and closer collaboration with state football associations and other stakeholders.

Solanke also pledged to introduce a long-term football development blueprint that would ensure continuity, irrespective of changes in administration, while strengthening Nigeria's youth football system to produce a steady stream of quality players for the national teams.

He added that his administration would focus on professionalism, accountability, and unity within the football family, noting that collective efforts are essential to returning Nigerian football to its rightful place on the global stage.

"Our dream is to make Nigeria a consistent participant and genuine contender at every FIFA World Cup. We owe that responsibility to millions of passionate football fans across the country," he said.

As the race for the NFF presidency gathers momentum, Solanke's message has continued to resonate with many football stakeholders who are eager to see a new era of visionary leadership capable of restoring Nigeria's footballing pride.
