The allegation of indiscriminating and lopsided employment has again stirred up fresh controversy at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as the staff have begin to agitate for even role.
The aggrieved staffers are threatening to petition the Federal Character Commission (FCC) to do an audit into the staff roaster and it's nominal list as they claim it's lopsided towards the North West of the federation, a situation that's undemocratic, and does not reflect the principles of fairness, equality and justice.
The NFF currently has a total staff strength of Ninety four (94), with over 80 percent accounting from the same for geopolitical zone with the NFF President and the General Secretary, North West of the country.
On assumption of office the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Hon Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, emphasized that the commission exists to ensure that Nigeria's diversity is harnessed as strength and that every citizen irrespective of background, has a sense of belonging in the affairs of the Nation.
Established under the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Federal Character Commission Establishment Act, the commission is mandated to promote fairness in public service appointments and equity in the distribution of social economic amenities and infrastructural development across the federation.
She further stated that the commission will collaborate with ministries, department and Agencies to advance national cohesion through fairness, inclusion and balance development.
"The commission was not created to regulate appointments, no, but to ensure justice, inclusion and Unity, this responsibility is undertaken with humility and unwavering commitment to ensuring that equity is not only articulated but practiced."
