NFF N96m Marcopolo luxury bus rots away in Abuja

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has abandoned to rot away, one of the two Marcopolo buses purchased after the 2010 FIFA World Cup by the Sani Lulu administration for the sum of N96 million for Nigeria National football teams at the Package A, of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

www.sportsunlimited.ng investigation revealed that the luxurious 40-seater Marcopolo Bus, which has been grounded for more than two years now, is said to have a minor engine defect.

This bus was among the several allegations, the Federal Government through the EFCC, in September, 2010 charged Sani Lulu, Amanze Uchegbulam, Bolaji Ojo-Oba, and late Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi charge with in its case of corruption and misappropriation of funds.

The legal battle that lasted for nine years between the FGN and the trio saw the Court of Appeal discharging and acquitted the accused NFF egghead of no wrong doing in 2019.

Two major automobile companies have gifted vehicles to the NFF within the past nine years.

GAC Motors gave NFF a brand new ambulance first time NFF ever owned one since it's existence in 1945.

They also extended the gesture to official cars to the NFF President, General Secretary, Technical director and the Super Eagles coach.

Carloha, another automobile company with franchise holders, Chery vehicles in Nigeria also in 2025 gifted the NFF vehicles.

The other existing luxurious bus that is still in its pool is said to be overstretched due to it's excessive usage and may breakdown any moment soon, an insider revealed.

There are palpable fears that the NFF may soon auction the abandoned Marcopolo bus at the National Stadium, as it has done with many other vehicles in its pool.
