New Type of Football debuts in Lagos

It was all fun, excitement and entertainment galore on Friday, December, 5, 2025 as a new type of therapeutic football was introduced in the country Tagged ' GOLDAS', the game was introduced with an exhibition match involving four teams at the Ejigbo Mini Stadium, Ikotun, Road Lagos.
The participating teams were made up of 19 players per squad, playing for a total of 99 minutes over three halves of 33 minutes each and it was not played on the normal rectangular field but on an oval type of pitch, like the shape of the Earth (comprising of the Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, the Equator and the Longitudes used in measuring time).
According to the International President of the game , Dr. Ngiejung Nabil, it's being introduced with the objectives to convert people's passion for football into solving their real life problems such as economic problems, poverty and youth unemployment.
Nabil, a Cameroonian who described the game as a revolution for Africa explained that they chose Nigeria as their next point of call for the introduction of the game because apart from the country being a business hub of the continent , it boosts of hardworking and talented youths.
"I'm really happy that we are doing the demonstration today after an orientation course we had with the players and some coaches Thursday and we chose Nigeria because apart from being the business hub of the continent, it boosts of hardworking and talented youths." This is also a revolution for Africa and we urge the whole continent to come behind us because for the first time in history, Africa is hosting the headquarters of an international sports", he said.
The international President noted with regrets that every year, youths graduate in geometric rates, while job opportunities doesn't occur even arithmetically; saying that they're not just creating a sport or ambitious to become an independent body, neither are they out to make millions from the game, but want to use the sports to help people who have passion for the game.
Also speaking, Vice President of the sports in Nigeria, Taiwo Tony Fafowora noted that the game is capable of creating about 377, 500 jobs for the youths between two to three years He expressed happiness that the country is part of the game with an appeal to the youths to embrace it for their own good.
Some of the unique features of the game is that 6 players serve as match reserves with an obligatory law that makes it binding for all the players to be fielded at intervals, within the games 3 halves of 33 minutes each. This law seeks to promote equal participation for all team players.
Jerseys were not identified with numbers, but lettered with the letters of the alphabet while the card concept was replaced with white, Earth Brown and Black Cards, used for discipline, and a Golden Card for rewarding good behaviours.
The game is also unique because goals are not only counted only when a ball enters the net. Tactical skills and exceptional efforts, can amount to a point.
The game is presently being played in Cameroon, South Africa, Liberia, Sierra Leone and United Kingdom.
