Momoh hosts 2nd edition of “Photography Masterclass Award

All is now set for the second edition of the much-anticipated “Photography and 2026 World Cup Vibes” programme with FIFA-accredited photo-journalist, Abdul Momoh, as preparations gather momentum for his departure to cover the 2026 FIFA World Cup next week.

The interactive event, which promises to bring together sports journalists, photo-journalists, media practitioners and sports stakeholders, will hold on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Kwara State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Secretariat, the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Centre, beginning at 4:00 am.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sportspro News Publisher, Bayour Issah, Abdul Momoh disclosed that the programme is designed to provide valuable insights into the forthcoming FIFA World Cup and the critical role photography plays in documenting and preserving the history of the world's biggest football spectacle.

Momoh is among the select few African photographers accredited by FIFA to cover the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, which is being jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.

His participation is regarded as another major milestone for Nigerian sports journalism and photography on the global stage.

According to the organizers, the event will feature robust discussions and analysis of the 2026 World Cup, with special emphasis on the impact of sports photography in enhancing global appreciation of football and other sporting events. Participants will also explore emerging opportunities for young photographers and journalists seeking international recognition.

The programme will feature a panel of respected media professionals and sports stakeholders, including Bayour Issah, who will serve as moderator, Mr. Harry Iwuala of the NPFL, Hameed Adio, OLY, alongside Tóbi Adepoju, Olayinka Owolewa, Oladapo Owojaiye, Jimoh Bashir, Segun Ogunfehintimi, Justina Aniefiok and Nicolas Uwerunonye.

Beyond the World Cup discussions, the occasion will also serve as a platform to celebrate and honour distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to sports development, youth empowerment and humanitarian service.

Among the award recipients are Engr. Femi Sanni (Araba), Chief Executive Officer of Flow FM, Ilorin, who will receive the Supporter of the Year Award, while Chief Godwin Anaekwe, Managing Director of Honour International Concept, will be honoured as Baseball Manager of the Year.

Other awardees include Barrister Olajunji Brown, Managing Director of Owu Sports Wear, Lagos, who will receive the Brand Personality of the Year Award, and Alhaji (Dr.) Ayinla Jimoh Agaka, recipient of the Sponsor of the Year Award.

The list also features Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, Director of Football, ABS Ilorin FC, who will be honoured as Administrator of the Year, while renowned sports philanthropist Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, the Nigeria Pillar of Sports, will receive the Special Philanthropist Award.

Also billed for recognition are Alhaja Rukayat Segilola Alaya, recipient of the Amazon Award, and Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest Football Club, who will be honoured with the International Star Award.

Others are Olusegun Olakunle of Russia, who will receive the Special Eagle Award; Hon. Idris Abdullahi Musa (Thuraya), Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, recipient of the Outstanding Administrator Award; and Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, who will be decorated with the Kwara Sports Administrator Award.

The honours list further includes Ayodeji Ismail, Radio Kwara broadcaster and Chairman of Kwara SWAN, as well as Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Abuja, who will receive the Administrator of the Year Award, King Solomon Adeleke of KSA Security Limited (Best Security Outfit of the Year), Ahmed Musa, the General Manager of Kano Pillars FC (Special Philanthropist Award), Sir Prince Oladimeji Lladi Thompson, Kwara State Pillars of Sports (Philanthropist Award), Austin Osemwenkha (Agada), the Coordinator, Rivers United FC (Special Philanthropist Award) Alhaji Toyin Olokoba, CEO Moonlight Newspaper, Ilorin (Outstanding Publisher of the Year) and AVM Oluwatoyin Lanre Ibrahim (Rtd) (Outstanding Philanthropist).

With expectations already high, the event is poised to provide a unique blend of learning, networking and recognition, while offering participants a rare opportunity to interact with one of Africa's leading sports photo-journalists ahead of football's biggest tournament.
