Iwobi, Nwabili, 8 others hit Super Eagles camp

Ten out of the 27 players invited for the Super Eagles friendlies in Morocco have arrived Marrakech’s camp of the team, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed.

Nigeria will face off with Ghana’s Black Stars at the Grand Stade de Marrakech in Morocco on the 22nd of March.

It would be the first encounter between the two eternal rivals since Ghana edged out Nigeria in the playoffs for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Four days later (March 26th), the Super Eagles will lock wings with Mali’s Eagles inside the Grand Stade de Marrakech in Morocco.

The players in camp are Fulham’s midfielder, Alex Iwobi, Rangers center forward, Cyriel Dessers who has returned to the fold after roughly fourteen months in the international wilderness.

Dessers was included in Nigeria's provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations but did not make the final squad even with the injuries to strikers Victor Boniface and Sadiq Umar.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Nathan Tella, West Brom’s Semi Ajayi and Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, who received all-clear by his team after an injury-enforced substitution in the match against Mamelodi Sundowns on March 9.

Also in camp are Moses Simon, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Calvin Bassey, Jamilu Collins and Bruno Onyemaechi.

The Super Eagles held their first training session yesterday.
