It's all over! NFF president, Gusau to formally quit today

After weeks of speculation amidst denials, the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau is expected to formally resign this afternoon.

Majority of Nigerians have shifted their anger towards Alhaji Gusau and his board for Nigeria football dwindling fortunes, especially the failures of both the Super Eagles and Super Falcons' failure to qualify for their respective World Cups.

While the anger raged, the NFF fixed new elections for September but the Department of Secret Service (DSS), the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) have at various times moved against the Federation.

There were even reports that eight (8) members of the board had been forced to resign to put pressure on President Gusau to throw in the towel but his campaign machine for a re-election continue to function.

However, report has emerged that the speculation will finally be put to rest as President Gusau is expected to formally resign this afternoon during a press conference scheduled to take place at 12 noon at the NFF headquarters, Sunday Dankaro Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

According to report, Gusau  is expected to use the occasion to provide clarification on a number of issues that have dominated discussions within Nigerian football in recent weeks, particularly reports concerning the 2026 NFF elections, the future of the current Executive Committee and pressure on the federation's leadership.
