The traveling golf fraternity, Global Golfers, has expressed strong satisfaction with the quality and playing conditions of the Ibom Golf Course in Uyo following their recent visit last Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Speaking during the tour, the group’s captain, Tayo Babalakin, a former captain of Ikoyi Golf Club, praised the course and the overall golfing environment, describing it as one of the finest alternatives for international-level play. He noted that the club, established in 2014, brings together passionate golfers committed to the spirit and ethics of the game while also supporting charitable causes, including scholarships for students, caddies, and support for children with special needs.

Babalakin revealed that the club, which boasts about 75 members, has previously toured countries such as Rwanda, Uganda, Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, with upcoming plans to visit Turkey, London, and Australia. He added that their June schedule was adjusted due to concerns over an Ebola outbreak in Uganda, prompting the selection of Uyo as an alternative destination.

He further explained that Global Golfers operates a yearly touring calendar, with members aged between 40 and 80 selected based on their enthusiasm for the game and adherence to golfing values. According to him, the Ibom course stood out for its excellent maintenance and improving standards.

Also commended during the visit was Isua Archibong of Ibom Golf Club, who was praised for the upkeep of the greens and the growing golfing culture in the facility. The tour featured competitive rounds, with Babatunde Oshikoya of Ikoyi Club emerging among the trophy winners at the Ibom Golf and Country Club event.

The group is expected to continue its international schedule later in the year, with a planned tour of London and Liverpool in July 2026, before a return visit to Uyo in November.
