Fringe Super Eagles keeper suspended for alleged match-fixing

Former Bendel Insurance and Super Eagles goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie is in the centre of an alleged match-fixing in Tanzania.

Obasogie alongside another player, Khalid Aucho has been suspended for initial three months.

While Obasogie was alleged to have been involved in match-fixing which has fetched him a three months suspension pending conclusion of investigation to ascertain him true involvement, Aucho also bagged a three-month suspension for alleged disciplinary behaviour and absenteeism.

According to a statement through the club's, Singida Black Stars, the management  took the decision on recommendation of its Disciplinary Committee.

The statement, through the club's Chief Executive Officer, reads: "The management of Singida Black Stars SC, through its Disciplinary Committee, has taken the following disciplinary actions against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie:

"Khalid Aucho is punished for indiscipline and absenteeism from duty and has been suspended for three months.

"Amas Obasogie is suspended for three months pending investigation into allegations of match-fixing.

The club reminds all players and staff to uphold discipline, accountability, and respect for the club.
