Extraordinary Congress: Justice Umar orders NFF to show cause

Hon. Justice G. M. Umar of the Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday, 9th February, after hearing Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, counsel to the plaintiffs, ordered as follows:

1. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is to show cause why it should proceed with its purported Extraordinary Congress in Bayelsa State.

2. Substituted service of all processes in the contempt proceedings is hereby granted.

The return date for the next hearing is 17th February 2026.

Nigeria football stakeholders will recall that despite the pendency of Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1376/2021 and the Court of Appeal judgment setting aside the September 30th, 2022 election, the Ibrahim Gusau–led Board has brazenly remained in office.

All processes have been served on the NFF as ordered.
