Enabulele to declare Edo Chess League open

Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, will today at National Gymnasium Sports Complex Etete, Benin City declare open the maiden edition of Edo State Chess League competition.

The Managing Director of Aidia Sports International, Comrade Aituari Igbinedion, who also doubles as the Vice President of Brainybrain Chess Foundation, said the competition has become necessary due to growing demand.

He averred that the championship is aimed at training and catching young Chess players that could be useful to themselves and the society at large.

"As you know, this is the first time Edo State Chess League championship is taking place in Edo State. You also know that

Sports is a veritable tool for capacity building. So to achieve this, Brainybrain Chess Foundation and Aidia Sports International in collaboration with the State government decided to put this event together to supports the laudable sports program of Edo State government."

"The CEO of Brainybrain Chess Foundation, Mrs. Omoragbon Iyobosa and Aidia Sports International are very committed in bringing the best out of our young sports men and women in Edo State. There is growing demand for Chess competition in Edo State, so we decided to put our resources together to make this happen."

"Being the maiden edition, there are bound to be challenges, but I want to assure you that all logistics needed to make this competition a huge success have been put in place. We want to bring out the best from these players. And it is going to be an annual event. Edo State is blessed with talent so we want to harness these talents and make sure they become useful to themselves and the society. We want to help them develop themselves in the game of Chess. Chess game is for intelligent people, and we are convinced that at the end we will come out with positive results."

Dignitaries expected at the opening ceremony are commissioners, director of sports and sports administrators in the State among others.
