The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has been honoured with the Sportsville Special Recognition Award in the Visionary Leadership category, in recognition of his role in repositioning sports in Edo State.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele expressed appreciation to the organisers, dedicating the award to Governor Monday Okpebholo for his unwavering support for sports development.

“I am deeply honoured and grateful to the organisers of the Sportsville Special Recognition Awards for this recognition in the Visionary Leadership category. It is truly humbling to be counted among distinguished sports administrators who have contributed significantly to the growth of sports in our country,” he said.

Enabulele described the honour as a reflection of collective effort rather than personal achievement.

“This award is not just about me; it belongs to the entire Edo sports family. It reflects the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and administrators, as well as the strong and consistent backing of His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, whose passion for sports continues to inspire remarkable progress,” he added.

He noted that the recognition would serve as added motivation to sustain the state’s rising profile in Nigerian sports.

“We will continue to invest in grassroots sports development, prioritise athlete welfare, and strengthen modern sports administration to ensure Edo State remains a leading force in Nigerian sports,” Enabulele assured.

According to the organisers, the award was conferred in recognition of Enabulele’s “visionary leadership” which culminated in Edo State’s historic first-place finish at the 2nd Niger Delta Games—its first major victory in 24 years.

“The landmark achievement underscores your leadership and vision in driving sports excellence in Edo State,” the organisers stated in an official communication.

Enabulele was among several distinguished personalities honoured at the 6th edition of the Sportsville Special Recognition Awards, held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Lagos Country Club.

The ceremony, chaired by sports media entrepreneur Dr. Larry Izamoje, founder of Brila Media, featured the recognition of 20 awardees across seven categories, celebrating excellence and contributions to sports development nationwide.

Among other recipients, Kwame Arthur and Chuka Momah were honoured in the Icon Category, while Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo and Hon. Wahid Oshodi emerged as Sports Personalities of the Year. Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, received the Sports Transformative Impact Award.

Established in 2020 to mark the 20th anniversary of Sportsville as an independent sports television programme, the awards continue to spotlight individuals and institutions shaping the growth of sports in Nigeria.
