Crystal Palace may finalise Iheanacho's deal
Crystal Palace has been long-term admirers of Kelechi Iheanacho and can now have him for free.
Leicester City confirmed last week that striker Kelechi Iheanacho had left the club after seven years with the Foxes where he helped them to back-to-back fifth-placed finish in the league.
He also helped them win the Championship title but he's exited the club three years after Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola described him as ‘incredible’ ahead of a Premier League game.
Ahead of facing his former employers in April 2021, City boss Guardiola had special praise for Iheanacho, who had been in the best-scoring form of his career.
"Incredible," the Spaniard replied when asked what he thought of Iheanacho following his impressive spree in front of goal.
"The quality was there, he was a young player here and I believe in that moment with Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero we didn't have much space. He is a fantastic person, we had a good relationship, and I'm delighted it's going well lately.”
Palace was interested in Iheanacho before he moved to Leicester in 2017 and has been keen on him when the Foxes suffered relegation to the Championship last season.
The club however can now have him for free as he’s without a club at the moment and looking for his next move.
It however remains to be seen if the interest in Nigeria international Iheanacho will still be there especially now that the Eagles have a new manager who is looking to play possession football and targeting different profiles of players.
The south London club finished the season strongly, winning six of their last seven games to finish ahead of sworn rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.
