Last Friday, the new title sponsor of the Euromatch/NPFL released the first part of the three-year sponsorship fee of €500,000 (about N767,050.00).

www.sportsunlimited.ng can report exclusively that the money was paid into the account of the league management before the close of work on Friday.

According to the terms of the sponsorship, the 20 teams in the league are expected to share at least N200,000 from the money.

An official of one of the clubs told www.sportsunlimited.ng that the league board should release part of the club's entitlement to enable them plan properly their programmes in the season.

"We've it on good authority that the new sponsor has released money for the league. This is a very good development and we want to appeal to the league management to release the clubs share," the source said.

In the same vein, the source added that though he had not been mandated to speak on behalf of all the clubs in the league, they are however pleading for the reinstatement of Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye.

"We wholeheartedly support the current reform being proposed by the National Sports Commission and that is why we signed into the agreement with the NFF Congress but it will be unfair to Elegbeleye not to allow him complete what he has started.

"It was his efforts and other partners that this Euromatch sponsorship came to light and it will only be right to allow him to implement his reform agenda in the NPFL," he pleaded.
