Seasoned sports journalist, Chigozie Chukwuleta, has been recognised for her more than three decades of professional service with the 2026 NUJ Anambra Long Term Professional Service Award.

Chukwuleta received the honour during the 35th Anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, where her lengthy contribution to journalism, particularly sports reporting, was acknowledged.

A journalist with a strong bias for sports, Chukwuleta has spent over 30 years in the profession, building a career around sports writing and coverage while contributing to the development of journalism in Anambra State.

Reflecting on the recognition, the amazon in the pen professional described the award as particularly significant, coming after decades of dedication to the profession.

The diva expressed appreciation to his family, the leadership of the NUJ Anambra State Council, her colleagues at UNIZIK 94.1 FM, members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), friends and well-wishers for their support throughout his career.

Chukwuleta attributed the milestone to God's grace, saying: “It can only be God.”

The award adds to a career spanning business report, entertainment, politics, lifestyle as well as education and it underscores the enduring contribution of experienced journalists to sports reporting and the wider Nigerian media landscape.
