Chelsea waiting for key development to push for Osimhen swap
Chelsea could reportedly get a boost to its hopes of swapping Romelu Lukaku for Victor Osimhen this summer if Napoli secures qualification to the Europa Conference League.
The Blues signed Lukaku from Inter Milan a few years ago, but he’s struggled to replicate that form in Italian football in his second spell at Stamford Bridge, which then led to him returning to Inter on loan.
Lukaku then joined Roma on loan this season and he’s impressed again, though it’s not clear if they’ll be taking up the option to sign him permanently, with Napoli now seemingly in the mix instead.
That’s handy for Chelsea, who is pursuing a transfer deal for Napoli’s Nigerian forward Osimhen, who has also been on the radar of other top clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in recent times.
Gazzetta dello Sport is now reporting that Napoli could be able to persuade Lukaku to join them if it gets into Europe for next season, so CFC will hope that can help in the swap deal.
One imagines there’ll be other opportunities for Lukaku, who has also been linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia in recent times.
